DJs Exposed!

Ralph Lawson

Kissy sell out – Fabriclive, London, Friday 21st September – a real let down sadly but maybe with time he’ll get better. He just played poor remixes of old tunes and climbed all over the DJ equipment like some derranged monkey off a cadburys advert. Still, glad he was enjoying it and putting some effort in! Plus there was a good crowd there really loving his stuff, just didn’t make me move, don’t think he’ll lose any sleep over that. That is all.

  1. Will Kissy Sell Out still be around in 5 years?

I just can’t see him still being fashionable in the future. He seems to have emerged from the popular New Rave seen that is supported by the myspace generation. But any genre that is a new version of an old genre can’t be a good start for a lengthy career? The problem with a DJ being part of a seen as much as part of the music is that when the seen changes the music doesn’t hold up. I’d love it if Kissy is still wearing oversized t-shirts, climbing on technics and blowing off air horns (Fatboy Slim has successfully managed to keep doing this with devastating effect to this day!) in 5 years time. Even better, if he is the only one that looks like dame edna everage with an air horn but just doesn’t care. If you do Kissy, then respect. But till then its nil pois from me.
